As part of our Times Earth event series hear Grand Designs design guru Kevin McCloud in conversation with Katrina Burroughs, interiors editor, The Times and The Sunday Times

Listen to Kevin and Katrina discussing designing and building eco homes of the future along with key ways to make your home more sustainable with the latest eco-friendly innovations.

Kevin McCloud is best known for the internationally acclaimed series Grand Designs, first aired on Channel 4 and now in its 20th year of broadcast. Grand Designs is BAFTA award-winning and is now shown around the world in over 100 territories. Grand Designs Live hosted by Kevin McCloud returns to the NEC Birmingham from 6-10 October, the show offers four key home project sections - Build, Kitchens & Bathrooms, Gardens and Interiors.

Kevin's other TV work for Channel 4 includes Demolition (2005), an urban regeneration series The Big Town Plan (2008), two series about his shed, Man Made Home (2012 and 2013) and an epic recycling series in which he and a team reused an entire commercial aircraft, Kevin's Supersized Salvage. In 2015 he travelled to far corners of the globe to explore remote and hostile environments where people are determined to live, in Escape To The Wild

In 2019 he wrote and presented Grand Designs: The Street, following ten households as they embarked on an epic five-year community project to construct their own homes as part of Britain's biggest self-build project at Graven Hill in Bicester. He has also fronted four series of Grand Designs: House of the Year, a joyous series in which he visits cutting-edge new homes across the country, all in the running for the prestigious RIBA House of the Year award.

Katrina Burroughs works across The Times and The Sunday Times as interiors editor, and has written a design trends column for the Home section for over a decade. Her mission has been to persuade readers to embrace colour and pattern in their interiors, and she firmly believes that the first steps on the path to a happy home are sending off for wallpaper samples and colour charts.

Grand Designs Live returns to the NEC Birmingham from 6-10 October, giving visitors top renovation ideas, home improvement inspiration and expert advice. For more information visit granddesignslive.com.
