Join us on the evening of Tuesday, October 26 to hear Liverpool and England football legend John Barnes talking about his book The Uncomfortable Truth About Racism with host of the Times and Sunday Times daily podcast Stories of our times, Manveen Rana.

John Barnes spent the first 12 years of his life in Jamaica before moving to the UK with his family in 1975. Six years later he was a hugely successful professional footballer and in the process of becoming the country’s most prominent black player. He reflects on his career and the personal experiences that have shaped The Uncomfortable Truth About Racism, a powerful and moving testimony that tackles head-on issues surrounding society’s ongoing battle with prejudice.

This event will be a recording of John’s event taking place at The Cheltenham Literature Festival on Monday, October 11 at 7pm in The Times and The Sunday Times forum. To find out more visit cheltenhamfestivals.com/literature/
